Using Chat in OneCloud Connect | OneCloud Support Portal

OneCloud Connect - Chat

In this article we go into detail on the Chat module within OneCloud Connect.

Direct Message

Chat with team members directly using direct and group messaging.

To start a new chat, click the  button in the "Direct Message" section:



To start a direct message, add a single user. To start a group message, add multiple users.


Click "Start Conversation" 



Use reactions, replies, and pins

Reactions are a quick way to acknowledge or respond to message. Easily use reactions by hovering over a message and selecting your desired reaction.



To reply to a direct message, simply hover over the message and click the "Reply" button.



You will then notice your next message is formatted as a response.

                                                           


Entire chats can be pinned as well for quick access. Select the ellipses in the top-right corner and select "Pin Chat"



The chat will be moved to a "Pinned" section above your other Direct Messages and Channels





Read Receipts

Confirm that your teammates saw your message with read receipts. When a user reads your message, they will be shown beneath your message.


Hovering over the icon will show more details on who read your message:





Channels

Channels are used to communicate with your team as a whole. Channels take advantage message threading, keeping simultaneous conversations organized and focused.

Threading

Posts in channels are automatically turned into threads, allowing users to reply in line with the original message. When a response is had users will be notified by the "New" indicators on the thread.


Create a channel!


To create a channel, click the  button in the "Channels" section.



Chose the channel type. Private channels require an invite, while public channels do not.

Give your channel a name, description, and add members.



Click "Create" 



Edit a channel or group chat


If you would like to change or update your group channel or information, hit the arrow next to the group chat name. 


Here we can upload a custom image and update the name or topic for the group/channel. Simply select the pencil icon to upload an image for the group icon.



Attachments and Emojis

From anywhere within the chat module, you may upload and share files with your team and make messaging more exciting with a full suite of Emojis.

To attach a file to your message, simply click the plus icon to the left of "Send a message..."



Emojis are easily accessible using the smiley icon next to the arrow.
